Crickmay has embraced their social responsibility programmes over the years and 2009 was no different.
On the 24th December 2009, Tatum Reddy accompanied by Reagan, her boyfriend, visited Northdale and Greys Hospitals in an effort to bring Christmas cheer to the children at these hospitals. There were 25 children at Northdale Hospital and 55 children at Greys Hospital. This would be a bleak time for these children, to say the least.

Many of the children are orphans or have been abandoned at the hospitals, while others come from poverty stricken homes. Some of the children were critically ill and while little could be done to improve their health, Tatum and Reagan were able to at very least bring a smile to their faces.
Crickmay donated R5,000 to the project and with this funding Tatum and Reagan were able to take on the task of buying all the presents and making up hampers for 80 children ranging from younger than a year old to 14 years old.
Each hamper contained toys, chips, sweets and juice. Finding suitable toys for toddlers and older children was challenging, but the time and effort spent was worth it as the smiles on the children’s’ little faces lit up the wards as they received their hampers. Some children literally jumped up with surprise and excitement when they saw their gifts and treats.
Sister Vilakazi, Unit Manager: Pediatrics, Northdale Hospital and Sister Nzimande at Greys Hospital assisted in making Christmas Eve 2009 a day to remember for their young patients. Both Sisters expressed their sincere thanks for Crickmay’s generosity.
For the children of Northdale and Greys hospital, 24 December 2009 was not as bleak as they might have been expecting.
