Social Concern

At Crickmay, we believe in making a difference, not only to our clients, the industries we work in, our staff, but also the community around us. We believe that with a little investigation time and money we can make a difference in the lives of the people around us. Our staff is encouraged to get involved with social projects.

The projects are chosen on the provision that:
  • The staff must be involved themselves
  • The projects is supported and supervised by the project 'owner'
  • A project plan is drawn up and accepted

ImageIn May 2009 a self help project was initiated by the All Saints United Church in Pietermaritzburg, in conjunction with PADCA (Pietermaritzburg and Districts Care of the Aged), whereby elderly unemployed women in the Tamboville area of Pietermaritzburg are taught the age-old art of weaving and the proceeds go towards supporting their large families. In February 2010, Crickmay began renovating the derelict building in which the women are working, making an impact on the self esteem of the people involved as well as on the community. The property has been fenced in preparation for the next stage of the project, which will be the growing of vegetables.
